Baker Lake, WA

Baker Lake at the foot of the magnificent Mount Baker. WA

After about 15 tries, I finally got DoSiDo (trailer) backed into a rather precariously sloped site! Leeroy (truck) was content to park on the hill!

By time I finished the sketch and took the photo the clouds had covered the peak.

Poppy by the fire at Baker Lake. + A huge, old Douglas fir.

I like to quickly sketch with my mechanical pencil first, then with my pen. Then I add the watercolor - either from the palette or watercolor pencils. But - when sketching landscapes I go from a light pencil sketch right to watercolors! To me that feels so much looser, suggestive, and alive!
